WAR OF NERVES
ATTEMPTED NAZI PRESSURE ON YUGOSLAVIA THREATENED ULTIMATUM. GENERAL SIMOVITCH CALLS FOR ORDER & CALM. The Prime Minister of Yugoslavia (General Sinioviteh), states the 8.8. C.. has issued an order calling upon the people to guard their homes and if necessary to sacrifice their lives for the nation. . Ile appeals to all to remain calm and to continue their work and not to give ear to rumours. This order followed an intensification of the war of nerves by the German Government. It is stated from enemy sources that Axis patience with Yugoslavia is nearly exhausted. A report from Berlin states that Germans are waiting until the last German leaves Yugoslavia before sending an ultimatum demanding the demobilisation of the Yugoslav army. The deadline for the Germans to leave is said to have been midnight last night. NAZI ANGER SOME WILD ALLEGATIONS. DENUNCIATIONS OF BRITAIN & AMERICA. LONDON. March 31. German anger at the frustration of Nazi aims in Yugoslavia appears to be mounting. The German radio is fulminating over the “interference by British and United States warmongers,” and adds that the German army will take care of them at the proper moment. The Germans also allege that recent events in Yugoslavia , were brought about by thousands of British agents. They hasten to add that these will not help Britain, which is already struggling.
