ENEMY LOSSES
AT LEAST THREE CRUISERS SUNK AND TWO DESTROYERS Action in the lonian Sea NO CASUALTIES OR DAMAGE ON BRITISH SHIPS TWO AIRCRAFT NOT YET ACCOUNTED FOR AT LEAST FIVE ITALIAN WARSHIPS HAVE BEEN SUNK, INCLUDING THREE OF ITALY’S LATEST 10,000-TON CRUISERS AND TWO DESTROYERS, IN THE BIGGEST NAVAL BATTLE OF THE WAR, STATES THE 8.8. C. The engagement took place in the lonian Sea and an Admiralty communique states that no casualties or damage were suffered by the British ships, but that two aircraft are not yet accounted for. The enemy cruisers sunk were of the eight-inch gun type.
