PENSIONER’S FATE
BURNED TO DEATH. IN FIRE AT INVERCARGILL. (Uy Telegraph—Press Association.) INVERCARGILL, March 30. A Pensioner. Mr. Hugh McLeod, aged 82, was burned to death on Saturday night in a lire which badly damaged the crib in which lie lived alone in Fox Street. The tire had a strong hold before it was discovered, and an attempt to gel Mr. McT.eod out of the building failed. There is no certainly as to the origin of the first, but il is thought that it was due lo the accidental overturning of an oil lamp.
