CARDS AND DANCE SUCCESSFUL GATHERING. l“Times-Age” Special.) The euchre party and dance held in the South Featherston Hall on Thursday night was very successful. The prizes were won by Mrs Wilson and Mrs Chisholm. The Monte Carlo waltzes were won by Mr A. Maidment and Miss O. Gain, and Mr Duffy and Miss J. Burt. Udy Bros, supplied the music, Misses M. Tocker and G. Fraser playing extras. Mr D. Robertson was M.C. The aggregate prizes were won as follows: —Ladies: Mrs F. R. Burt 1, Mrs Willis 2. Men: A. Gain 1, Mr Thurston and L. Boyd, equal, 2. WEDDING BLAIN—HAMMOND. ' A wedding of interest to South Featherston residents was celebrated at Makirikiri, Wanganui, on Saturday last, when Aircraftsman lan Blain, son of Mr and Mrs J. Blain, of South Featherston. was married to Betty, younger ■daughter of Mr and Mrs C. F. Hammond. “Riversdale,” Wanganui. The Rev. A. C. McLean performed the ceremony, and Miss Marjorie Tocker, L.T.C.L., officiated at the organ. The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a period frock of white taffeta and lace, with long embroidered tulle veil and halo of orange blossom. She carried a bouquet of white carnations, tulips and belladonna lilies. She was attended by her sister, Miss Joyce Hammond, and Miss Ngaire Tocker, a cousin of the bridegroom, who were similarly attired in delphinium sheer over taffeta with bustle effect. They wore hair sprays of delphinium and carried pink and blue shower bouquets. The flower girls, Sandra Cook and Catherine Arbon. wore frocks of pink georgette with tight-fitting bodices and full skirts, and pink horse-shoes. Corporal A. Harp was best man, and Leading Aircraftsman G. Barker was groomsman. The bride’s mother received her guests, wearing a black wool romaine frock, squirrel fur, and carried a posy of autumn tints. She was assisted by the bridegroom’s mother, who wore a navy blue model frock and fox furs, and carried a scarlet posy. Mr and Mrs Blain later left by motor car for the North, the bride travelling in a grey tailored costume with navy accessories. Personal Items. Miss Edna Williams, of Waharoa, is spending a holiday with Mrs H. \R. Burt, South Featherston. Mr W. Dick, of Invercargill, is staying with his parents at South Featherston. s Mr G. Gain, senr., has returned to South Featherston after having spent a holiday at Waharoa.
