RUBBER IN FABRICS

MEANS OF INCREASING DURABILITY. REPORTED AMERICAN TREATMENT. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day. 10.25 a.m.) CHICAGO, March 28. A simple rubber treatment for fabrics, claimed to double the wear of clothing, was reported today at a trade conference. Dr. Teaguse, a chemist in the United States Rubber Company, said the new process prevents shrinkage and moth damage to clothes. The treatment is called kolox and consists of depositing tiny particles of latex rubber solids into fabrics. These particles bind the fibres, making' them more durable and giving double the life to most clothing. Durability is added without appreciably decreasing flexibility, feel or other desirable properties.
