SALE AT FEILDING BETTER PRICES FOR FAT SHEEP. PIG VALUES FAIRLY GOOD. (By Telegraph—Press Association..: FEILDING. March 28. Conditions were still very uncertain at the Feilding stock sale today, and though there were slight improvements in some classes the general trend of business was still far short of the tone prevailing at recent sales. Fat sheep: Ewe mutton prices showed a slight improvement and better quality wethers also sold readily, but there was little life in the sale. Extra prime wethers made 20s. to 21s. 4d. prime 18s. Id. to 19s. 7d„ unfinished 16s. lOd. to 17s. 10d.; extra prime ewes Ils. to 11s. 10d„ prime 9s. 7d. to 10s. Bd.. plain Bs. to 9s. Id.; extra prime lambs 235. 10d., second quality 18s. Id. to 19s. 10d., light 15s. lOd. to 17s. 7d. Store sheep: Farmers still showed reluctance to operate to any extent, and though there were a few individual good sales business generally was dull. Best two-tooth ewes brought 275., small 145.; 2-tooth 17s. 6d. to 18s. 3d.; forward two-tooth wethers 19s. others 15s. 6d.; five-year ewes Ils., five and six-year Bs. 9d.; best ewe lambs 18s. 6d„ fair 16s. lOd. to 175., small 14s. 4d.; extra good wether lambs 16s. 9d., fair lines 13s. 4d„ small 7s. 3d. to 10s. 4d.; rams Ign. to 3gns. CARTERTON SALE LATE RATES MAINTAINED. A TOTAL CLEARANCE REPORTED. Messrs. Wright, Stephenson and Co.. Ltd., report;—A good yarding of sheep and pigs and a small yarding of cattle was forward at the Carterton sale yesterday. There was a fair attendance of buyers. Late rates were maintained and a total clearance was effected. Prices: — Sheep: Fat lambs, 18s. to 255. 2d.; two-tooth wethers, to 15s. 6d.; woolly ewe lambs, to 14s. 9d.; b.f. lambs, to 17s. 2d.; medium woolly wether lambs, to Ils. Id., small, 7s. 4d. to Bs. 4d., culls. ss. 3d. to 65.; small b.f. lambs Bs. to 145.; cull ewe lambs, 6s. 4d. to 11s. Id. Cattle: Jersey cows, just calved, £7 10s. to £ll 10s.; Jersey heifers, on drop to £8; Jersey heifers, just calved, to £6 10s.; Jersey heifers, r.w. bull, to £5 10s.; 18-month Jersey heifers, £3 to £4 55.; fat cows, £4 to £5 155.; forward cows, to £2. Pigs: Good weaners, 10s. to Ils.. medium.
