EKETAHUNA
PILOT OFFICER E. PAGE PRESENTATION LAST NIGHT. -(“Times-Age” Special.) There was a very large attendance at the dance tendered by local residents to Pilot Officer E. Page in the Odd Fellows' Hall last night. Dancing was enjoyed to music supplied by Messrs D. Thompson and K. Marenzi. The M.’sC. were Messrs H. E. Greathead and V. Wimsett. During the supper interval, the Mayor. Mr W. Olsen, called upon Pilot Officer Page to accept a wristlet watch from the residents. In doing so Mr Olsen referred to the fact that Pilot Officer Page would be the first Eketa-huni-born airman to go overseas. They all knew that he would play his full part in the work ahead of him. He was a member of a branch of the forces that had made a wonderful name for itself, and Eketahuna was proud to think that one of her sons was associated with the Royal Air Force. Mr Olsen concluded by wishing Pilot Officer Page good luck and a safe return to New Zealand. Pilot Officer Page was accorded musical honours after which he briefly returned thanks. Small gifts were also handed to Pilot B. Spring and Aircraftman N. Kendall, who are also on leave. Supper, prepared by the Eketahuna Ladies’ Committee, was enjoyed by all.
