SUBVERSION CHARGE

THE OSTLER AND CHRISTIE APPEAL. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. Further submissions were made to the Court of Appeal yesterday by Harold Edward Ostler on a memorandum forwarded to Wellington by Mr. Justice Northcroft on his Honour's directions to the jury in Christchurch at the trial of Ostler and Travers Burnell Christopher Christie, who were found guilty of attempting to publish a subversive statement. The Chief Justice (Sir Michael Myers) subsequently announced that the Court would take time to consider its decision and that the case could not be disposed of this week. He added that there was no reason why the prisoners should remain in Wellington if the authorities wished to return them to prison.
