MEETING REALITIES
JAPANESE ENVOY’S APPEAL IN AUSTRALIA DESIRE FOR AGREEMENT DECLARED. PROBLEMS NOT INSOLUBLE. (By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright) CANBERRA, March 19. “Suspicion and prejudice arc twin trouble-makers and they can be overcome only if we are willing to see the other side of the question or to take trouble to find it out.” declared the new Japanese Minister, Mr Tatsuo Kawai, who was the guest of honour at a Commonwealth luncheon today. Mr Kawai, who was cordially welcomed by the acting-Prime Minister, Mr Fadden, and his colleagues, said the world today was sadly sick and suffering from many and varied disorders. “As we are not living in a fairyland, we must deal with real facts, meeting whatever difficulties may arise with determination to reach a peaceful solution for the sake of our common well-being. The problems between nations are not insoluble if faced with courage and frankness and the will to understand the other’s point of view.”
