ENJOYABLE CONCERT MASTERTON ARTISTS ASSIST. A St. Patrick’s concert was held in the Public Hall last night. The entertainment proved to be one of the most successful and enjoyable held in the town for many years. So large was the crowd that many patrons were compelled to stand. The programme was chiefly supplied by artists from Mas-

terton and Pahiatua. Every item was encored, but Mr. Dan Foley, wellknown to radio listeners, was the chief attraction. Credit is due to the joint secretaries, Mesdames V. Wimsett and H. Ryan for the excellent 'arrangements. The Eketahuna Concert Orchestra assisted with the overtures in a most pleasing manner. Mr. Foley, at the conclusion of the concert, .said the Orchestra was a really good one, and Eketahuna should consider itself fortunate in having the services of so many young musicians who could perform so creditably. The announcer for the evening was Mr. V. Wimsett. At the conclusion of the entertainment the visitors and friends were the guests of the committee at supper. The following was the programme:— First part: Overture, Eketahuna Orchestra; song, “I’m off to Philadelphia,’’ Mr. Ron. Gilbert; monologue, Miss Valma Hirst; dance. Irish reel, Miss K. Bourke and pupils; humour. Mr. Harry Hall; pianoforte solo. Mrs. J. R. Dickson; song. “She is far From the Land," Mrs. Dougherty; recitation. Mr. D. Moriarty; song and dance. “If it Rains., who Cares.’’ Miss' Beulah Hirst; song selections, Mr. D. Foley. Second part: Overture, the Orchestra; song, Miss Junker; songs, selected, Mr. Dan Foley; violin solo, Mr. Gallagher; recitation. Miss Valma Hirst; song “Ireland, Mother Ireland,” Mr Ron Gilbert; dance. “Irish Jig," Miss Kathleen Bourke; songs. “Fairy Tales of Ireland,” Miss M. Diggins: character dance. “Nell Gwynne.” Miss Beulah Hirst; song selections, Mr. Dan Foley; the National Anthem, the Orchestra. The accompanists were Mesdames J. R. Dickson (Masterton), and D. Foley and Miss Wilma Herrick. Personal Items. During their stay in Eketahuna, Mr and Mrs. Dan Foley were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. N. P. Williams. Mr. William Olsen. Junr., is spending his annual vacation at Fairlie.
