HOME GUARD

MEETING AT GLADSTONE. A UNIT FORMED. A Home Guard meeting, convened by Mr Douglas Taverner, was held in the Gladstone Hall last night. A resolution was unanimously carried that a Home Guard unit be formed in the Gladstone district. The date for the first parade was fixed for Tuesday, March 25, at 7.30 p.m. Recruits, over the age of sixteen, will be cordially welcomed at this parade. It is hoped to form a strong body of the Home Guard in the district. A vote of thanks was accorded to Mi' Taverner for having attended the meeting, and for his explanation of the aims and duties of the Home Guard. The following were present: Messrs G. Baird, E. B. Booth. F. T. Day, D. Nunn. J. Henson. H. J. King, j. K. Strang (Gladstone): Bradley, H. W. Duckett, H. T. Henderson, W. Ireland, H. K. Macintosh. W. Patrick, W. F. Rogers, J. Snell. W. Young (Te Whiti); G. G. Beard, K. Groves (Longbush).
