MEAT POSITION

DISCUSSION BY FARMERS IN COMMITTEE. SUGGESTIONS PUT FORWARD. "I think most of us have the feeling that everything is not as well in the meat position as it might be,” said Mr R. W. Kebbell, who presided at todays meeting of the Wairarapa Provincial Executive of the Farmers’ Union. "We had been led by the Department,” he said, “to believe that everything in the garden was lovely.” The meeting then went into committee to discuss the situation at present confronting the country and several suggestions were put forward for consideration at a conference in Wellington on Wednesday and Thursday. After the discussion had concluded Mr Kebbell stated that farmers were definitely of the opinion that they should be taken into the confidence of the Government and not merely told half truths.
