CARNIVAL CAMPAIGN
ARMY QUEEN EVENTS FOR .TONIGHT AND ' TOMORROW. ■ i VISIT OF TRENTHAM BAND. : Tonight the Army Queen committee will stage its biggest parade of the carnival in Queen Street, headed by the Trentham Military Band and followed by 18 Interhouse Girls’ Teams, the Territorials, and three local bands. The procession will be a novel one in many respects, and will conclude at the Municipal Hall where a dance will be held, the music for which will be supplied by the Trentham Jazz Band. A special feature of the dance will be an unusual supper arrangement. Tomorrow afternoon in the Masterton Park at 2.45 p.m., the Trentham Band will render an outstanding programme of music by the full band and by bandsmen soloists. A civic reception will be accorded the band at the Park by the Mayor. Mr T. Jordan, and Mr J. Robertson, M.P. Tomorrow night the Trentham Band will provide an outstanding programme. assisted by a concert party, in the Regent Theatre at 8.15 o'clock. The band will play such well known selections as the “William Tell Overture,” and the marches "Harlequin" and "Australasian.” Those who have heard this excellent combination of musicians have expressed themselves as being thrilled with the work of the band. The Masterton public can look forward to outstanding entertainment tomorrow. Tomorrow afternoon also the Gun Club will hold a meeting at the Waingawa grounds when valuable prizes will be competed for by the leading shooters of the district. On Monday night the Little Theatre. Society will present the second night of “Without the Prince,” proceeds from which will be devoted to the ArmyQueen. On Tuesday night a community sing will be held and the Army Queer Committee has been fortunate in obtaining New Zealand's leading community sing leaders, Mr Frank Crowther (pianist), and Mr Wiriston McCarthy. of Wellington, to conduct the singing. Assisting artists will -be Miss Olga Burton, lyric soprano, and Ken McCauley, New Zealand's own John McCormack. The Army Queen Fla? will be auctioned and all army supporters are asked to attend in full force. Should adverse weather conditions prevent the Trentham Band from playing in the Park. Masterton people are asked to listen in to 2ZB at 1 o’clock for the alternative programme arrangements. In connection with the Army Queen raffles the set of pink undies was won bv Miss Morrison, of Lansdowne.
