TRAGEDY AT SEA
TWO MEM DROWNED. DINGHY CAPSIZES. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) INVERCARGILL. March 14. Two Bluff men were drowned at Preservation Inlet late on Wednesday night through a dinghy capsizing in heavy wind. News of the accident reached Bluff early this morning when the fishing vessel Aurora arrived in port with the bodies of the men, who were: — Esmond Ericson, single, aged 21. Frank Huia Moss, single, aged 34. The accident occurred at about 11 o'clock on Wednesday night. Eriscon, Moss and Paul McQuarrie had been ashore from the Aurora, on which they were employed, to visit a gold prospector, and when they were returning to their vessel the dinghy capsized. McQuarrie’ was rescued but the other two were drowned. The body of Ericson was not recovered till dragging operations were undertaken yesterday.
An inquest was opened today for identification purposes, and adjourned.
