TRENTHAM BAND

ARRIVAL IN MASTERTON MARCH THROUGH STREETS. DISPLAY BY INTERHOUSE GIRLS’ TEAMS. The Trench Military Band arrived in Masterton this morning by the morning mail train. The band was accompanied by girls' interhouse teams from Hutt, including the winners of the New Zealnad Championship, who are taking part in a marching and drilling display at the Park, in association with Wairarapa girls’ teams. t The band, in smart khaki uniforms, played from the station to the Municipal Hall and through Queen Street. There was hearty applause at several points as the band marched by. The party of Interhouse girls from the Hutt numbered 72. With members of the band they were guests at luncheon provided at the Town Hall by the Women's Division of the Farmers’ Union. A welcome was extended to the band and the Interhouse girls by Mr R. Whyborn. representing the Army Committee, and by Mr D. Costello, secretary of the Wairarapa Interhouse Association. There is a good attendance of the public at the gathering being held in the Masterton Park this afternoon under the auspices of the Navy Queen Committee. The Interhouse teams will attend a dance in the Town Hall tonight.
