ACCORDING TO PLAN

PROGRESS IN ABYSINNIA ITALIAN SOMALILAND ALMOST CLEARED. FRESH CONFIDENCE FELT BY NATIVES. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 11.58 a.m.) RUGBY. March 14. A communique issued at Nairobi states: —“Operations in Abyssinia continue according to plan. Mopping-up operations in Italian Somaliland are rapidly ending in the capture or surrender of the last remnants of the enemy. Since the advent of the topees and slouch hats of our Imperial troops, which are now a familiar feature in Italian Somaliland as they recently were in Kenya, fresh confidence has been instilled into many of the native inhabitants. Conditions throughout the occupied territory are rapidly becoming normal.”
