KENYA SENSATION
DEATH OF THE EARL OF ERROL
MEDICAL EVIDENCE AT INQUEST. SHOT FIRED AT SHORT RANGE. The “Natal Witness,” reporting an inquest into the death near Nairobi, Kenya, in January, of the Earl of Errol stated: “A doctor told the court today that death was caused by a revolver shot which entered at the rear of the Earl’s left ear and penetrated the spinal canal. The shot had been fired from the rear at a distance of from Ift. to lift., and in the doctor’s opinion it was highly improbable that it was self-inflicted.” The late Earl of Errol was 39 years years of age, and was a member of the Kenya Legislative Council. He was formerly an honorary attache at the British Embassy at Berlin, and became a settler at Nakuru, Kenya, shortly after the end of the last war. Cabled news was received this week that Major Sir Delves Broughton, Bart., has been charged with the murder of the Earl of Errol.
