EFFECTIVE R.A.F. SUPPORT FOR TROOPS HEAVY ATTACK ON BASE AT TRIPOLI ENEMY HARRIED IN KEREN AREA. The R.A.F. continues to support Imperial troops in Africa, the 8.8. C. states. The naval base at Tripoli was heavily bombed. A fire and a big explosion followed. In the Keren area, in Eritrea, motor transport, bridges, enemy troops and gun positions were bombed and machine-gunned. AUSTRALIAN TROOPS OPERATING ON TRIPOLI BORDER. CONTACT WITH GERMAN MOTORISED FORCES. CAIRO. March 13. In the past fortnight, Australian troops have been engaged on the frontier of Tripolitania and have made the A.l.F.’s first contact in this war with German armoured vehicles. Constant patrolling along the frontier is going on, but the Germans have been almost driven from the air. CAPTURE OF ASOSA BY SUDANESE AND EAST AFRICANS. LONDON, March 13. A message from Khartoum states that Asosa, the Italian fort in Abyssinia to the west of the Gojjam, has been captured after combined operations by Sudanese and East African troops.
