REGENT THEATRE
“I TAKE THIS WOMAN.” It was a stroke of genius to co-star , Spencer Tracy, generally admitted the j screen’s greatest actor, and Hedy Lamarr, whom the world admits to be , the most glamorous newcomer iu a de- , cade. Teaming of these two leaves nothing to be desired in “I Take This , Woman,” which will be shown tonight. The picture tells the story , of a woman’s great romance and regen- ' eration, and marks the most romantic characterisation ever assigned to Tracy, as well as the glamour girl’s j most dramatic role and her first with a 2 modern American setting. The story j deals with a social butterfly who, when j a romance with a married man crashes, finds sanctuary by the side of an earnest physiciail working in a tenement clinic. When the physician risks his career to provide her pleasures in night club society, a dramatic denouement solves their problems. Expertly 1 abetting the two stars by playing one 1 of her typical wise-cracking comedy roles is Verree Teasdale. Kent Taylor is attractive and excellent as “the other man.” The whole cast is excellent, with special applause going to Laraine 1 Day, Mona Barrie, Jack Carson, Paul Cavanagh, Louis Calhern, Frances Drake, Marjorie Main, George E. Stone, Willie Best, Don Castle, Dalies Frantz q and Reed Hadley. The picture gives g Miss Lamarr more opportunity for * good dramatic lines than any of her £ pictures to date. It also surrounds her ]( with a gay, glamorous background for J a major part of the picture. She dresses in modern American costumes for the first time and looks more beautiful than ever. And the story is a happy ending one. “ There is a strong supporting pro- s gramme to suit all tastes. s
