GOLD MINING

COMPANY RETURNS. Maori Gold, Limited, report a return of 40oz. for the week ending March 14 obtained in 119 hours from 6500 cubic yards. Big River Gold Mines, Limited, report the following gold returns for January and February:—Battery department: 110 tons of ore crushed for a return of 61oz 6dwt. of melted gold. Cyanide department: Not cleaned up. Estimated value: £490. In addition, 1 ton 17cw. of concentrates were saved valued at £59. Note: In estimating the above values, gold has been taken at £8 per fine ounce.
