GRAIN AND PRODUCE

CANTERBURY MARKETS. PRICES STEADY. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH. March 14. Little change has taken place in the grain and produce market during the week and prices are steady. There is a moderate amount of North Island trade in seeds. The seasonal demand for autumn sowing is normal because of the dry, hot weather. The potato market became somewhat firmer a few days ago. Prices now range from £5 15s. to £6 a ton, MayJune delivery. White clover is still plentiful, samples and yields varying widely with the prices according to quality, and ranging from 2s. to lOd. a lb. Rye-grass is steady though the market may be affected when southern seed comes forward. Values for cocksfoot remain at Is. a lb. downward. Chaff has maintained a slightly improved demand. The obscure shipping prospects have caused a slight weakening in peas.
