Miss Maunsell, Pownall Street. Masterton. is staying at Eastbourne. Mrs Eric Horner. Spring Hill. Tinui. has been spending a fortnight at Paraparaurnu Beach. Mrs Alfred Caselberg, Sussex Street, Masterton. spent the weekend in Wellington. Mrs J .Read. "Te Kopi,” Gladstone, has returned from a visit to Parapai;aumu Beach. Miss O. MacFarlane, Seatoun, Wellington, is staying with the Misses Brown. Church Street. Masterton. Mr and Mrs P. J. Wallace and daughter. of Waingawa, are at present spending a fortnight's holiday with relatives in the South Island. j A direct descendant of the chiefs of I the "seven canoes,” Margaret Rachel I Park, died last night in Wellington,! aged 55 years. Mrs Park identified ' herself more particularly with the Ngati Raukawa tribe, Otaki. The body of Mrs Park vzill be taken to the Raukawa tribal meeting house, Otaki, this afternoon, and will later be buried in Pukekaraka cemetery beside that ol her first son, Richard Rangitihi Park. Mrs Park is survived by her husband, Mr R. G. M. Park, Rotorua, and one son, Clement d'Estoutville Park, at present in the Papakura military camp. One of Waipawa’s most highly respected residents, Mrs Annie Moroney, aged 86, has died' at her residence in Ruataniwha Street. Mrs Moroney was born in Tulia, County Clare. Ireland, and came to New Zealand in 1874 in the sailing vessel Schalleon. She married the late Mr Michael Moroney two years later, and lived in Waipawa till the time of her death. Her husband predeceased her 28 years ago, and there are left five daughters, Mrs L. McGreevey (Waipawa), Mrs W. McLean (Akitio), Mrs W. Norris (Waipukurau), Sis- . ter Basil (St. Joseph’s Order, Hast- , ings). and Miss A. Moroney (Wai-.; pawa), and two sons, Messrs .Michael and Daniel Moroney (Waipawa). j
