AUSTRALIAN NAVY

BIG RESERVE OF MEN. Formation of an "unmobilised pool” for men waiting to be called up for service with the Royal Australian Navy, a new system of psychological tests, and the granting of war-time commissions to promising applicants are innovations in a campaign for recruits which is being launched by the Commonwealth Naval Board. Recruits will be enlisted at the rate of hundreds a month to keep pace with the expansion of Australia’s naval shipbuilding programme. The campaign is the largest ever launched by the Board. The object of the psychological tests is to determine the duties for which applicants are most suited. The success of an applicant in these tests will depend more upon the manner in which he receives and handles questions than correct answers.
