WOMEN’S DIVISION SUCCESSFUL CARD PARTY. ("Times-Age” Special.) There was a good attendance at the weekly card party held by the local Women's Division of the N.Z. Farmers Union. Time. 66sec. , On Saturday afternoon next the annual inter-club sports will be held at tile Carterton baths. OBITUARY MRS S. C. WADSWORTH. After an illness extending over three weeks in the Greytown Hospital, there passed away yesterday Mrs Susan Caldwell Wadsworth, wife of Mr David Wadsworth, at the age of 85 years. The deceased, who was born at Wakefield, in the Nelson district, was a daughter of the late Mr and Mrs John Gibbs, who came to New Zealand from England in the sailing ship “Will Watch.” They landed at Nelson in 1842 and resided at Wakefield during their lives. The deceased was highly respected. She had resided principally, after leaving Wakefield about 40 years ago, in the Auckland district and until quite recently at Wanganui for several years. Deceased is survived by a husband and a grown-up family of two sons and two daughters. The sons are Messrs A. Wadsworth (Wanganui) and R. Wadsworth (Auckland) and the daughters Mesdames A. Carter, Wanganui, and R. Banks, Anderson Line, Carterton. Mrs Hutchinson, of Havelock South, is her only surviving sister. Some years ago during a tour of Nelson. Mrs Hutchinson was presented to the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester. There are twenty-one grandchildren and six great-grandchildren left. The funeral will leave the residence of Mr R. Banks, Anderson Line, Carterton, after a short service for the Clareville Cemetery. Personal Items. Lawrence Spooner, who recently met wiih an accident to his head, and who has been an inmate of Greytown Hospital, has returned to his home in Rhodes Street. He will be confined to his home for a time. Decrease in Milk Supplies, The warm dry weather has caused a fall in the supplies of milk at local factories. Fire Brigade. In view of the Fire Brigade demonstrations at Wairoa at Easter, a team of Carterton firemen are putting in a lot of useful practice in preparation for events in which they intend to compete. Prayer Service. The weekly intercession prayer service will be held at St. Mark’s Church, tonight, commencing at 7 o’clock. Tar and Sand. The borough overseer, Mr. Geo. James, and his staff are taking full advantage of the fine weather to give various streets in the borough much needed coatings of tar and sand. Football Club. Members of the Carterton Football Club will hold a meeting in the Fire Brigade Hall tonight for the purpose of revising the rules of the club.
