0 IMPRESSMENT OF MOTOR VEHICLES FORTY MORE ISSUED TODAY IN MASTERTON. TELEGRAM TO MINISTER. In spite of the representations made to the Minister of Defence, Mr Jones, in Masterton on Sunday, regarding the sudden impressment of motor vehicles, about forty other additional impressment notices were received by Masterton district truck owners today, asking for the immediate delivery of lorries to Trentham.
Some confusion exists among owners and Mr R. H. Williams, secretary of the Wairarapa Provincial Executive of the Farmers’ Union. has sent the following telegram to the Minister: “In view of discussion here Sunday is it still necessary for farmers and milk vendors who have a good case for exemption to send their trucks to Trentham for inspection? Owners are still receiving notices today and confusion exists as to whether they cannot be examined here instead of Trentham. This matter discussed with you."
