CHILDREN’S HOME

MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MEETING. CIRCUIT COLLECTION REPORT. The monthly meeting of the management committee of the Masterton Methodist Children’s Home was held at the home last evening, the chairman Mr. F. E. Wells, presiding. Other board members present were Mrs. Elliot, Mrs. Kings, Messrs. J. I-I. Handyside, W. A. Judd, H. H. Daniell, G. F. Whitlock, J. A. Wellington, W. R. Nicol, the Rev. 11. S. Kings and Dr. N. H. Prior. The matron was also in attendance.

The financial statement for February was adopted, and- a progress report of the various circuit collections on behalf of the home was also submitted. This showed that interest in the home has been maintained, and in a number of instances increased. The Hawke’s Bay-Manawatu district collections were all in and showed a very appreciable increase on last year's figures. The committee trusts that the other two districts. Wellington and Wa-nganui-Taranaki will follow the lead given.

The children at the home now number 27, and the health of all is very good. A group of the elder boys of the home are being instructed by the Superintendent of the Fire Brigade, Mr. T. B. Clark in the efficient handling and use of fire fighting apparatus. The committee thankfully acknowledges the gifts of the produce recently displayed by the Masterton Church at its Harvest Festival.
