AXIS PRESSURE
BEING INCREASED ON GREECE AND YUGOSLAVIA Some Unconfirmed Reports GREAT POLITICAL ACTIVITY IN BELGRADE TURKEY TO ACT WITH GREAT BRITAIN Axis pressure by propaganda on Greece and Yugoslavia, states the B 8.C., is increasing. One report states that the German Minister in Athens has presented a Note to the Greek Prime Minister, but there is no confirmation of this. Another report speaks of German troops having crossed the Greek frontier but this is likewise not confirmed. Belgrade, the capital of Yugoslavia, has become the centre of great political activity. The Turkish attitude toward developments in the Balkans is again made clear by the statement of a high Turkish official who has urged Yugoslavia to realise the true situation. “Tiny Greece by her heroism has shown that when one’s home is menaced it is one’s sacred duty to take up arms, ’’ he said. He added that Turkey would take action when her independence and integrity were threatened. Such action would be in collaboration with Britain.
