WOMEN’S INSTITUTE
MEETING AT KAIPARORO. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. (“Times-Age" Special.) At the monthly meeting of the Kaiparoro Women’s Institute, in the absence of Mr Burton, Mrs C. Welch (vice president) took the chair. Mrs McAnulty showed home spun knitted leggings for mine-sweepers and read a most interesting letter from the commander of a mine sweeper appreciating the home spun leggings she had sent to keep the sailors warm in their gum boots. These and woolly caps to be worn under their sou-'wes-ters were most needed. The flower competition was won by Nirs Darney with a dahlia, Miss B. Parry being second. The points prize in the competitions for the six mon,ths was won by Miss Avis Dick. The flower competition points for the year went to Miss B. Parry. At the annual meeting Mrs McAnulty was elected president, Mrs Burton secretary, and Mesdames Woolland, G. Dick and Miss O. Falkner members cf the committee. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded to Mrs Burton the retiring president after three years’ service. Mrs G. Dansen, the retiring treasurer, was accorded a hearty vote of thanks and alsc. the retiring secretary, Miss B. Parry, after two years' service.
