V.R.C. MEETING I KING’S PLATE TO HIGH CASTE. SENSATION IN STAKES. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) MELBOURNE. March 6. The weather was fine and there was a good attendance at Flemington today for the third day of the Victoria Racing Chib’s autumn meeting. Bureaucrat had a comfortable win in the Autumn Hurdle Race, but the overconfidence of the jockey nearly brought defeat. He eased his mount and did not notice King's Warden, who just failed to get up. Dominex weak'ened. Pauline, who was fifth in the early stages, defeated the pacemaker. Averne, in the Northcote Handicap. Throttle was a moderate third. High Caste secured an effortless victory in the King's Plate. Positron, who had a big lead early in the race, was no match in the final stages. Saul was a poor third. High Caste has now won £29,525 in stakes. High Road created a major sensation in downing All Love in the Ascotvale Stakes. All Love looked like a winner a furlong from home, but High Road finised brilliantly. Tea Cake was a moderate third. High Road cut in sharply when passing All Love, who nearly fell. Sir Locket, who was always prominent, defeated the fast-finishing Federal. who was last at the straight entrance, in the Apprentice Handicap. Spanish Main was a moderate third.
