Mrs Taylor, of Hastings, is the guest of Mrs A. Hansen. Ballance. Mrs L. Johnston, of Masterton, has been on a visit to Pongaroa. Mr and Mrs J. Wesney. of Masterton,have taken up their residence in Palmerston North. e Mrs A. Williams, of Auckland, and formerly of Masterton, is on a visit to Masterton. Miss . Anderson, of Kohinui, is visiting Richmond (Nelson) where she is the guest of her mother, Mrs Thomas (Hamilton) and Mrs Hope (Drury) have been the guests of Mrs A. Cooper, Ballance. Mrs W. R. Nicol, of Masterton, was a visitor to Ballance for the school jubilee.

The death has occurred in Havelock North of Mrs Eliza Permain Hallett, a well-known resident of the district, and a member of a prominent pioneering family, of Hawke’s Bay. She was 77 years of age. Born at sea while her parents, the late Mr and Mrs Frank Bee, were en route from England to New Zealand, she had spent practically the whole of her life in Hawke’s Bay. The death occurred in Wanganui of Mrs Elizabeth Catherine Wilford. widow of Dr. J. G. F. Wilford. who, during the latter par! of last century, practised in Lower Mutt. Mrs Wilford, who was born in Tasmania, in 1848. came to New Zealand in 1850 with her parents, the late Mr and Mrs T. Mason, who had arrived in New Zealand in 1841. but later, for a short period, rei sided in Tasmania. At Taita Mr Mason I had. a garden famous throughout New Zealand for its beauty. After their ! marriage Dr. and Mrs Wilford lived in Lower Hutt till his retirement, when they went to Wanganui. He died in 1902.
