| DISTRIBUTION TO SCHOOLS. ANNOUNCEMENT BY MINISTER. (By Telegraph—Press Association.! DANNEVIRKE. This Day. Speaking at Norsewood. at the opening of a new primary school, the Minister for Education said that consequent to the wars oiled on the shipping position the Government had decided to distribute apples free to pupils at all schools. This was not intended to take tlie place of free milk. Instructions were going out to all schools almost immediately in reference to the steps to be taken should a state of emergency arise. People should wait for detailed instructions. He did not want them rustling into the construction of trenches in school grounds or doing any such work without proper instructions. Maybe the war was not so close to our shores at all. but II was well to take certain elementary precautions.
