SIR ALEXANDER ROBERTS APPOINTED. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON. This Day. Sir Alexander Roberts has, with the concurrence of the New Zealand Government been appointed by the Ministry of Shipping in Britain as their representative in New Zealand. The functions will be of an advisory character. the object being to assist in securing the best and the most economic use of the shipping tonnage- available. He will deal only with ships over which the Ministry exercises control and not with ships registered in New Zealand. The appointment is an honorary one. Similar appointments have been made in Canada. Australia and the Union of South Africa.
