Medical Examination of Recruits. Medical Board sittings for the examination of recruits will be held on Wednesday and Thursday next week, in the Drill Hall, Masterton, being at 10 o’clock on both days. Horses on Roads. Motorists in the Wairarapa district are requested by the Army Department to drive cautiously on the country roads this weekend as mounts required for the Mounted Rifie Brigade's camp at Foxton are being collected for transport. Myths Dispelled. Speaking at the Masterton Rotary Club yesterday afternoon, Mr. S. L. P. Free quoted a writer's investigations in connection with reports that Japan had fortified certain islands in the Pacific, in currency some years ago. "I consider that the Japanese wished it believed: but. they hadn’t fortified the islands,” observed Mr. Free. Winners of Raffles.
