SERIOUS CHARGES
ONE OFFENDER SENT TO GAOL. JURY DISAGREES IN SECOND CASE. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) BLENHEIM. This Dciy. John Magee, 53, a cook, was sentenced to twenty-seven months' hard labour after he was found guilty of indecently assaulting a girl of seven years. Mr Justice. Kennedy described the case as a bad one, pointing out that prisoner was found guilty of a similar offence at Masterton some years ago. On a similar charge against William Lawson, 61. a labourer, the jury disagreed and a new trial was ordered.
