A Cairo communique states: In Eritrcat, as the result of its vigorous advance, our northern force is now in contact with enemy troops holding covering positions north of Keren. Meanwhile, by local activity we have improved our position west of the town. In Abyssinia, in the face of increasing pressure by Patriotic forces, the Italian evacuation of military posts in the Gojjam area continues. In Italian Somaliland operations in all sectors are developing successfully.

FULL SUPPORT ACTIVITY OF ROYAL AIR FORCE. OPERATIONS ON SEVERAL FRONTS. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 11.10 a.m.) RUGBY, February 28. A Middle East communique stales: “In Italian East Africa support is being given by units of the R.A.F. and the South African Air Force to Imperial troops on various fronts. An enemy troop position south of Keren was bombed and machine-gunned, causing considerable damage and casualties. Other aircraft machine-gunned Zula aerodrome, destroying a large transport aircraft. The railway track between Keren and Asmara has been bombed. Several direct hits were registered on a large motor transport park and repair shops at Dessie. On February 27, bomber aircraft of the South African Air Force raided barracks at Bur Acaba and warehouses at Ischia Baidoa. Several buildings were set on lire. Aircraft engaged in offensive reconnaissances beyond Bulo Burti, north of Mogadishu, bombed lorries on a road. The bombing of motor transport was also carried out in Yavello and Neghelli areas. “Enemy aircraft attempted to raid Malta yesterday but there was no damage or casualties. “From all these operations our aircraft returned safely.”
