RAIL=CAR TRAFFIC
I WAIRARAPA-WELLINGTON i SERVICE. It appears states a correspondent that congestion of rail-car traffic to and from the Wairarapa is not confined to Sundays. A Wellington person wishing to spend the weekend in Masterton was unable on Thursday to book a seat on Friday evening's 6.4 p.m. car from Wellington to Masterton. As all other accommodation was booked, he was able only to get a back seat on the 6.15 p.m. car. For the return journey, Masterton to Wellington, the 6.25 p.m. railcar from Masterton on Sunday was fully booked when application was made on Thursday, but there were one or two seats still left on the 5.30 p.m. car.
The fact that Trentham Camp is practically empty just now shows, it is stated, that there is insufficient railcar accommodation to meet even the civilian demand.
