COUNTY COUNCIL MEETING DUST NUISANCE IN LINCOLN ROAD. PROPOSED NEW BRIDGE (“Tunes-Ae.v" Special. l Further business was transacted at the Wairarapa Smith County Council meeting yesterday afternoon after thi "Times-Age" went to press The- Carterton Racing Club wrote asking for the necc.s-'ary prohibition to the parking of cars on Chester Road. Bond, a resident of Lincoln Rom;, wrote dr, wing the Council's attention to the dust nuisance on Lincoln Road, caused by fast travelling motor traffic, and asking if something could bo done to obviate the nuisance. The question is to be decided a latet dale. The Carrington and Tazatahi water race reports were submitted by the overseer. Mr H. J. McKenzie. and adopted. Thi report of the overseer 'MI J. A. Wallace) was adopted. It was resolved mat the members ot Belvedere Riding and the overseer inspect Tea Creek Road ford, winch w..t scouring out badly, and report to iht next meeting of the council. Strang. C. A. Cameron, the chairman end the overseer are to meet Mr J. W. Buchanan for the purpose of inspecting a serious drop in the road and report to the council. It was resolved that three bunks and mattresses be purchased and placed in cottages on the East Coast Road for the use of drovers.
Messrs Seaton. Sladden and Pavitt M: sterton. were given authority to have a site surveyed for a new bridge over a .stream at Taumata Island and that they submit plans for the same. Il was resolved that tile overseer be instructed to set back a corner on the Maungatercre VMley Road near Mr Cotter’s properly. The overseer was authorised to dismantle Sexton's Bridge at Gladstone which is being replaced by a new concrete structure.
It was decided that 30 feet of concrete pipes bo placed across Joseph Road near Mollit's Road on the Waiohine bluff to take the water away to a creek and prevent it flowing down the roadway as is the case at present.
