Safety for Cyclists. “’Before going north next month. 1 should like to issue a warning to cyclists in general, and to parents of childcyclists in particular, about the practice of riding three abreast on main roads," said the North Island representative of the British and Continental Cyclists' Touring Club. “It is very unwise. especially at weekends when I motor traffic is heaviest. Any represen-j tations that have been made by eye-, lists’ organisations to the government | regarding the protection of their members have always been received with the utmost sympathy, but the Minister concerned is powerless if individual cyclists become careless of their road conduct. And,” he concluded, "it should never be necessary, in any British dominion. to comment on the folly of cyclists riding without lights." I Catholic Jubilee.

Condition of Roads.
Commenting on the state of back roads in the Wairarapa. the North Island representative of the British and Continental Cyclists’ Touring Club mentioned that the West Taratahi road has very heavy ridges of metal dust. "Only yesterday," he said, "I got caught between the ridges, unfortunately on the western side of the road travelling south and a light truck coming up behind me was forced over the western side on to the grass. Had the driver of the truck not acted with commendable presence of mind, there might have been a very serious accident. I could not possibly have crossed over without being ‘spread-eagled.’ Most of the back roads in the Wairarapa and Hawke’s Bay districts, how-i ever, are very satisfactory and com-; pare favourably with those in the! Auckland province.”
