CANTERBURY MARKET I ' — LACK OF CONFIDENCE. BUSINESS UNDULY QUIET. (Fly Telegraph—Press Association.* CHRISTCHURCH. February 21. Lack of confidence which lias restricted trading in the grain and produce markets since the beginning of the season shows no signs of abating, and business in every section this week has been undly quiet for the time of year. The only real activity has been in wheal, which has been delivered as fast as trucks have become available to move it from tin? country. Reports indicate that the yield has been patchy in this part of the province. but excellent results have been obtained in mid and South Canterbury. After a slight flutter earlier in the week, the potato market has again become very quiet, though values have not receded from £4 for April. May and June, at which business was recorded. Ryegrass is still offering only in limited amounts and remains steady at up i to -Is id. More Akaroa cocksfoot has ! come in during the week and shows a ! wide variation in quality and a wider; range in weights. The bulk of samples, so far received range from 71ib to 121 b., ' rind values have been from 8d to Is | Oats ar* not being ottered at all freely ] after the early rush. Values remain , steady. There is a restricted inquiry 1 for chaff, which is steady at £3 10s on trucks. !
