HEAVY DEFEAT
INFLICTED ON ITALIANS IN ALBANIA R.A.F. SHOOTS DOWN SEVEN ENEMY PLANES. SUCCESSFUL BOMBING ATTACKS. In Albania, the Italians have suffered another heavy defeat at the hands of the R.A.F., the 8.8. C. states. The R.A.F. Headquarters at Athens reports that in the Berati and Tepelene areas on Thursday, seven Italian fighters were shot down and others damaged severely without loss to the British forces engaged. \ A heavy attack on Berati, which is on the main road to Durazzo. was made by British bombers escorted by fighters. Enemy fighters also sought to intervene at Tepelene. where stores and concentrations were bombed heavily. Three enemy planes were shot down and another so damaged that it probably was unable to return to its base. Al! the British aircraft returned safely. HELP FOR GREECE SOUGHT IN UNITED STATES. February 21, A United States commentator, broadcasting from Athens, says that for some days past remarkably few Italian aircraft have been operating over Albania or Greece. Yesterday Greek planes successfully raided Italian targets behind the lines. It is learned in Washington that Greece has again asked the United States for help, particularly in the supply of aircraft. A survey of the position is to be made. Greeks who escaped from the Dodecanese Islands report a shortage of all things there.
