FLOWN TO THE FAR EAST
Mr Matsuoka Speaks Softly BRITISH AND UNITED STATES MEASURES DEPRECATED FEARS OF EXCITING PUBLIC OPINION IN JAPAN It was announced in Washington yesterday, the 8.8. C. reports, that aircraft were being' flown from the west coast of the United States to the Far East. No further details were given. The Japanese Foreign Minister, Mr Matsuoka, in a statement in Tokio, said he was sorry that unnecessary measures had been taken by Britain and the United States in the Far East. He hoped Britain.and the United States would refrain from measures which would excite public opinion in Japan. He denied that his recent message to Mr Eden contained an offer to mediate in the European conflict, but said he had set forth his general views on world peace.
