Mrs Q. Donald is a Featherston visitor to Napier. Mrs E. Scandrett, of Pahialua, is visiting Christchurch. Mrs R. D. McGregor has returned to Pongaroa from a holiday spent in the South Island.

Mrs H. S. Budd, Masterton, whose husband is an adjutant of the 19th Wellington Battalion, with her two little daughters, is visiting Mr and Mrs F. S. Budd, Southland Road, Hastings. The marriage took place recently in, Masterton of Jean Doreen, only daugh- i ter of Mr and Mrs W. J. Gill. Cambridge Terrace, Masterton. to John (Jack) Falconer, younger son of Mr and Mrs A. G. Hick. Broadwood. North Auckland.

Mrs M. E. Armstrong, daughter of a pioneer settler of Rangitikei. died in Taranaki last week after a strenuous life spent in Marton from 18G0 to 1870, and thenceforward in South Taranaki. One of her sons is a wellknown settler of Martinborough.

The death of Mrs Margarette Johnson, widow of the late Captain Henry Johnson, formerly harbourmaster at Wellington, occurred on Monday at the home of her daughter. Mrs M. H. Oram. Featherston Street. Palmerston North.

The death occurred yesterday in a private hospital in Pahiatua of Mrs Amelia Emily Giles, relict of the late Mr Charles H. Giles, formerly of the Wairarapa. at the age of 76 years. Deceased resided for many years in Carterton. where she was well known and highly respected. Many years ago the late Mr Giles had a livery stable in Carterton. The late Mrs Giles is survived by a family of five children. The funeral took place at Palmerston North today.
