Mr Alma Baker. a wealthy New Zealander, now resident in the Straits Settlements, is the first to purchase the right to name two Tornado fighters. His latest gift of C 10,000 brings his total contributions to the aircraft fund to £30,000. Mr Baker, who is aged 84. owns rubber estates and tin mines in Malaya, also sheep and cattle stations in Australia and New Zealand. He was the founder, in the last war. of the Australian and Malayan battle plane squadrons, numbering 94 machines.
