MAURICEVILLE

HOME GUARD

GOOD ATTENDANCE AT PARADE

(“Times-Age" Special.)

There was a strong force of local men present at the Home Guard parade held in the Mauriceville East Hall on Monday evening. Progress is being rapidly made in arranging the unit into military formation. It is only a matter of time before full lighting facilities will be available for training purposes.

The local commander acknowledges a donation of £5 towards the Home Guard expenses from an anonymous supporter. An enthusiastic number of men have formed an E.P.S. unit which will be also of vital importance, and instruction is to be given to members regarding their duties in the event of an emergency. A course of first aid has been brought into being under the direction of a competent instructor. CROQUET WIN FOR HOME TEAM. At the Mauriceville Croquet green on Tuesday the McKenzie Buttons were again competed for between the Eketahuna and the Mauriceville clubs. The players were: —Eketahuna: Mesdames S. Daniel and R. Dickson. Mauriceeville: Mesdames J. L. McArley and J. E. McKeown. The Eketahuna players were defeated by a very small margin after a. most exciting finish.
