CARAVANS ON PARADE
RING DISPLAY AT SOLWAY YESTERDAY. MUCH INTEREST SHOWN Considerable interest was aroused at I the Showgrounds yesterday by a procession of caravans which proceeded round the show ring. Twenty caravans the owners of which are all members of the Wairarapa Caravan Club, formed the parade and Mr T. V. Caverhill the ring announcer, gave an informative commentary on the display. He drew attention to the special facilities enjoyed by members of caravan clubs by reason of arrangements made by these clubs throughout New Zealand to cater for the interests of visiting members. At the rate at which caravans wore being built and sold in the Wairarapa today, the club would soon have a membership of about 100. Many pleasant rallies had been held in various parts of the Vfairarapa and several more were planned before winter arrived. These gatherings had been very much appreciated by the members. Speaking of the many advantages of the caravan, he said it lent itself to all kind of conditions and was fast replacing the tent. Moreover, a person owning a caravan hud no reason to possess a seaside cottage, as, with a caravan, he was free to visit tiny seaside or other resort which lie fancied. Moreover, the modern caravan possessed all the comforts of the home. The secretary of the club was Mr Max Nicol, who would be pleased to enrol new members. Incidentally, yesterday’s display is claimed to be the first of its kind at ;m A. and P. Show in New Zealand.
