CARD TOURNAMENT
HELD BY FIRE BRIGADE.
("Times-Age" Special.)
The Fire Brigade held the first of their weekly card tournaments on Tuesday night, when there was a good attendance. The prize winners were: Ladies. Mrs. Lowell 1, Mrs. Wilson 2. Men's section. Mrs. Rewai 1, Mrs. Leslie 2.
Special Screening of Picture. At a meeting of the Borough Council application was made by the National Patriotic Fund Board to screen a special picture on a Sunday evening, the proceeds of which are to be used for patriotic purposes. Permission was granted. Health of Borough. The health inspector in his quarterly report stated that the health of the borough is very satisfactory. Euchre Tournament. A euchre tournament was held in the Pihautea Hall, when there prizewinners were:—-Ladies, Miss Juno. 1: Mrs. Cade 2. Men: Mr. Frew, 1; Mr. Ruka. 2. Personal Items. Trooper V. Woods, of the Palmerston Cycle Camp, was home on weekend leave. Mrs. Thwaites. Karori, who has been the guest of Mrs. Juno. Pihautea. has returned home. Misses J. and L. Hood, Kahautara, and Misses B. and P. Warrington. Pihautea. left today for Nelson. Miss Corlet, Pihautea. left on Monday for a fortnight's holiday in Wellington. Mrs. Hodge is the guest of Mrs. F. Wood. Pihautea.
