SIX DESTROYED OVER & NEAR BRITAIN ' DURING TWENTY-FOUR HOURS. CASUALTIES IN LONDON. Six enemy bombers were destroyed over Britain and the North i Sea in the 24 hours ending on Monday evening, the 8.8. C. reports. Four were destroyed by anti-air-craft fire during Monday night, two on the east coast. Early yesterday morning an enemy bomber over the North Sea was attacked j by a British mine-sweeping trawler. The enemy machine was hit and exploded in the air. The principal targets of enemy bombing on Monday night were London and East Anglia. A number of casualties were caused by a single heavy bomb which struck a shelter in London. The casualties included two nurses killed in a first-aid post at the entrance to the shelter. Total air raid casualties in Britain during January were 1502 persons .killed and 2012 injured. The killed included 720 men. 567 women and 189 children under 16. There were no survivors and no casualties were sustained by the trawler.”
