WIVES OF SOLDIERS
AND OTHER DEPENDENTS. EVACUATION FROM MANILA. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, 1.10 p.m.) MANILA. February 12. It is announced that four hundred wives of dependents of United States soldiers in the Philippines are returning to the United States within a week, aboard a transport. It is understood that six other Army transports are en route to Manila, bringing supplies and also reserve officers. It is believed that the Army will evacuate several hundred other dependents. The new reserve of officers is needed in connection with a Phillippine Army announcement calling up a reserve of officers on March 17 for a fortnight's intensive instruction. The announcement affects 125,000 reservists and indicates increasing United States supervision over Phillippine Army training.
