GREYTOWN
SCHOOL COMMITTEE MONTHLY MEETING. (“Times-Age” Special.) The monthly meeting of the Greytown District High Scnool Committee was held last evening. Thera were present: Messrs H. G. Carter (chairman), F. Dennes (treasurer), W. Grigg. E. Galyer. G. Robinson. W. G. K. Wiggins, Mrs Knell (secretary) and the headmaster. ?.lr S. C. Shedden. An apology for absence was received from Mr H. C. Trotman. A vote of sympathy was passed to Mr F. Dennes who had lost his mother. A vote of thanks was accorded to Messrs Grigg and Galyer who had constructed a bridge over lhe water race. The committee inspected lhe new concrete playing area and satisfaction was expressed with the work. Accounts amounting to £l6 16s were passed for payment. Mr G. Robinson tendered his resignation as a-member of the committee, as he was leaving to reside in Christchurch. The chairman expressed the. thanks of the committee to Mr Robinson for the interest he had shown in school matters during his residence in Grey-i town. Mr R. C. O’Neale was nominated to fill the vacancy and his name is to be submitted to the Wellington Educa-j tion Board. : The headmaster reported that the; school had opened with the roll numbers as follows:--Primary, 300; secondary, 38. Miss C. Bond and J. Hatton! had joined the staff and Mr A. L. Anker had left for Eketahuna. During the holidays the mangold patch had been weeded byz voluntary helpers. These included the member lor the district, Mr B. Roberts, and there are prospects of a good crop. A bushel and a half of Partridge peas had been harvested from the secondary garden, and to date 121bs. of sugar beet seed : had been collected. Il is intended to I make a special effort to collect ergot in ! the near future. It was decided to close the school for; the People’s Day of the Masterton; Show. It was reported that the dental I nurse. Miss B. Burney, had commenced' duties at lhe Greytown Clinic. The returns for the half-year of the Grey-i town-Carterton clinic district show! that the patients under treatmentnumber 556 and that the new entrants I in 1910 had been 138.
PLUNKET SOCIETY BRIDGE PARTY. I The members of the Greytown Plun- ; kct Society commenced a series of bridge parties yesterday afternoon. There were five tables.
