ACTIVITY CONTINUES
ON ALL AFRICAN FRONTS SUCCESSFUL R.A.F. RAIDS. ' FREE FRENCH INVADE LIBYA FROM CHAD. A Royal Air Force Middle East communique transmitted by the 8.8. C. states that activities on all ■ African fronts has continued. In another attack British bombers on an aerodrome in the island of Rhodes several tons of bombs were dropped and ten enemy aircraft were destroyed on the ground and others damaged. Further heavy attacks have been made on Asmara and Keren, in Eritrea. All the planes engaged in these operations returned safely. A communique from General Headquarters in Cairo states that General Tellera, commanding the Tenth Italian .Army died, after being captured, from wounds received in the fighting south of Benghazi. Operations in Eritrea, Abyssinia and Italian Somaliland, the communique states, are developing satisfactorily. A communique from General de Gaulle’s headquarters states that Free French forces. assisted by the air force, have penetrated 400 miles into Southern Libya from Chad and have captured an Italian aerodrome. The attack by the land forces followed an air raid and-serious losses in men and material were inflicted on the enemy.
